Great song. Kind of like Petty doing a classic Neil Young song.
I know the feeling of what the song expresses from my own perspective and I guess that's the same for any of us. We all live with ourselves, our issues, our demons, and everything else that we carry around with us.
Each of us is like our own private club that sometimes we allow others to gain entrance into while at other times we shut ourselves up and just drink alone. Life can be miserable or wonderful or even sometimes miserably wonderful or wonderfully miserable. Not sure if that makes any sense, but I can recall plenty of times when I've felt the whole array of feelings and others couldn't understand what was going on with me. Then there have been those times when I wouldn't let anyone near to what I was feeling or I felt too burned to want anyone to know.
Life gets complicated sometimes. My problem is that I think about it too much and make it all the more complicated. If I'd act more then maybe I wouldn't have time to think so much, but then again maybe that would give me more opportunity to screw things up more.
So I'm not sure what you're feeling and I'm not totally sure what I'm feeling. Maybe once I get on the road, spend some time in Tennessee, and then see my kids and grandkids I'll have a better handle on things. Then again maybe I'm just diverting my feelings temporarily and end up back where I am now when I get back home. Or maybe I need to answer the question: Where's home?
Hope you're doing okay. Music can be a great outlet. But you know that.
I listened to this song and it made me think of this song.

Yeah, I know I'm a bit warped. That isn't news.
It's because of this:

I love me some Aaron Tippin. That's one of my Favoritest songs!!!
DeleteNo, I don't know, but I do know I like Tom Petty's singing and his blue eyes. It's that look. . .
ReplyDeleteAlso: The Dylan song that Robin mentioned is blocked in my country, but I know it anyway. I think the two men have some similarities in their music.
DeleteI agree a lot of similarities. Tom seems to know me best.
DeleteOh yeah. Love a harmonica.
ReplyDeleteFeeling introspective lately?
;-)

Yes, ROBIN is right. It's sort of like that classic Bob Dylan song 'Positively 4th Street', recorded in July of 1965.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost 'Positively 4th Street Revisited' (with a joint).

'Loyal American Underground'
But, of course!
DeleteA great song. Thinking a bit much at your sea, are we?
ReplyDeleteProbably overthinking.
DeleteI love this song. I don't know how it feels, though... to be you or to roll a joint. Yes, even in the land of legal weed.
ReplyDeleteBummer!
