Twice this past week, my INTEGRITY was called into question. The first time I deserved it, and I hope I corrected the problem, as painful as it was. The second time I wanted to scream at someone "You do NOT know me." I didn't. I went back and 'made nice', showing a complete lack of integrity, but good manners. Then my good manners got a slap in the face. That will teach me.
Anyway...I was going to publish a post about integrity, but right now that would probably be throwing gasoline on the fire. Best if I shut it. Besides, I just got it off my shoulders.
It's been one of those days...already.
Here, listen to Bob, instead of me.
Sorry you had a bad week. Hope it gets better. Have a great weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteReally, truly everybody, I am NOT as pitiful as all this might sound. At least, I hope I'm not. Just a rant.
ReplyDeleteI have found that those who snipe most about your integrity are those whose own is tarnished. The jackels bark but the lioness strides on.
ReplyDeleteMark Twain wrote that no good deed goes unpunished. Trying to deal with a dysfunctional as if dealing with a whole person usually goes poorly. Sigh.
My prayers are with you.
Oh, I came over from Alex's blog, and I am glad you are displeased with this new 2 word verification nonsense. Have a better weekend. Always in your corner, Roland

ReplyDeleteFrankly, you talk in riddles, m'dear.

And I would like to have read a blog bit about integrity... alas.
Good song from a great album that always makes me think of a woman who exited my life many years ago.
Say, I will begin work on that "Muddy" Email today. Not sure I'll get it finished - probably not. So, maybe I'll send it in two parts, one tonight and the concluding part in a couple days.
Or, maybe I'll wait until the whole thing is complete.
Well, we'll see how I feel about it tonight. (Do you have any preference, if I don't get it completed today?)

Frankly, there are very few people whose opinion I value, so unless they are one of those people I could care less what they think of my integrity. Like I'm always telling my kids..."consider the source".
ReplyDeleteLove your song selection! One of my favorites!! :)
As DL Hammons said, consider the source. Kick back, take it easy and listen to some good music.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Roland's observation. If you did what you felt was right, then walk away with a clean conscious.
ReplyDeleteGood song; and sometimes being a "bigger person" just takes a longer time for the pay off. You'll thank yourself later :)
ReplyDeleteHey; do something that pleases you this weekend . .
I bought a new pair of shoes I really didn't need; but they sure picked up my mood.

To acknowledge an error/mistake and try to rectify the same - spells INTEGRITY to me. I understand that tension between 'making nice' and compromising the sense of integrity - I think decent people acknowledge that one can actually reflect the other - if they choose to dismiss this or worse - then, I think the substance of their character is in question.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't sound like a fun day... Hope the rest of it goes better... thanks for the song...
ReplyDelete*hugs* Playing nice is the more mature social thing to do. Sorry it came back to bite you. I had an experience like that once, where there'd been a misunderstanding and when I tried to explain the other person threw it in my face. Fine. I let it go, but let someone else deal with her (she was the someone else's father's shack up, so I wasn't too fussed, and she was blaming me for the way the guys's kids didn't give the abusive man much attention--gee, I wonder why).
ReplyDeleteDL's comment said it the best and I need to take that advice for myself. We can only do our best and what is right in our hearts....our society has become way too judgmental & unforgiving. Great song!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad having a (very mild) rant about this has helped get this 'off your shoulders'.
ReplyDeleteYou're probably right not to stoke the fire - but you could give us that post another day.
I'd second Accidentalwriter. If you tried to correct the problem, then that in itself shows integrity.
ReplyDeleteI hope the week improves for you!
We all need reminders sometimes of our own human weaknesses. It is the learning from them that makes us great. You're awesome! ;D
ReplyDeleteYou guys ROCK! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI hate those types of weeks. Bob is always a good go to. Here via A to Z...a little early mixing. I look forward to getting to know you.
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm visiting from the A to Z Challenge. I'll be back to look for that integrity post!
