Rainy Days and Insecure Feelings

Here , listen to this while I talk.
I love this song and this arrangement is maybe my favorite.

May 2nd and it’s another INSECURE WRITERS SUPPORT GROUP. I’m sitting here looking out over the Caribbean at huge thunder clouds rolling across the ocean making their way to the next island, (When you want to hate me for that, keep in mind that June 1 begins HURRICANE SEASON.) and wondering what to say. I actually don’t feel too insecure today (oh carp, did I say that out loud?). Monday, April 30th was probably a low point for me. It was the last day of A to Z and I was feeling particularly unclever.(or uncleaver, as I usually like to say.) The whole idea of such a  disciplined ‘forced march’ in blogging was getting me down. Then, I had a rather disappointing experience in my personal life. Those things kind of ‘ganged up’ on me and I’m thinking, maybe it was time to go back to waitressing (Yeah, that’s gonna happen).

Anyway…May 1st was a BRAND NEW DAY. I started reading one of the half dozen books on screenwriting (don’t laugh, this might be the next endeavour) I picked up at the Flea Market and had a major epiphany about how to fix the opening of my Nano novel. So, it just goes to show, you never know where the bolt of lightening will come from. The MUSE has been telling me some interesting, if distracting, things lately and I think maybe I’m REALLY ready to write again.

How ‘bout you?

It's the first Wednesday of the month and that means Insecure Writers Support Group. Look to your RIGHT and see the BADGE. Give him a little click to learn more and see what some of the other INSECURE WRITERS have to say.

  2. Oh my on the start of the hurricane season. I live in the Mid-Atlantic state (sometimes my state of mind too j/k) I do not like this season. We often get the outer bands of the storms racing up the coast. Wishing luck in your writing endeavor!

  3. I live in Ohio, but it felt like a hurricane was coming down on us last night. Your post and many of the other IWSG posts this morning are definitely lifting me out of my writing funk. I have a feeling my muse is running back to me with open arms. Yay!

  4. Lovely post and I'm so glad you've been hit by the inspiration flash. I'm feeling a bit like you but reckon I'll get back to writing tomorrow!

  5. I felt the same way on Monday...you are so right that you don't know when the lightning will hit or how just a difference a day makes. Yesterday was great! We just have to keep on keeping on. :-)

  7. What's the title and who is the author of the screenwriting book you've been reading recently?

POSTSCRIPT: In 90 minutes I have another appointment with the dentist, to fix something that wasn't done properly last Friday. Great way to kill a chunk of the day. All in all, I'd rather be sitting on an island just watching thunder clouds roll.

  8. Glad you discovered how to fix the issue and are on the upswing again!
And I know about those hurricanes...

  9. I have a great screenwriting book at home. I forget the name of it, but it's really helpful. I got halfway through a screenplay only to discover it had the same basic plot of a movie coming out (21 Jump Street). So, I learned a very valuable lesson: research upcoming movies to avoid this particular failure.

Anyway, I'll drop by later to tell you the name of the book if you want.

  11. Good luck with your writing. The inspiration and nudge you need can often come from unexpected places :)

  12. I had to hang out here a while and listen to music, and feel the clouds rolling in. Yes, I'm envious of you today; but I'd not like the hurricane season.

Love those epiphany's. Good luck with the new writing project.

  13. I'm glad I did A-Z not so much for the challenge of thinking up a new post almost everyday (can you say torture?) but because I met so many new bloggers.

  14. My muse has been batting at me and muttering dire things if I don't listen.

I do need to get back on schedule with my word counts. Plus, I have a pile of review books I need to do.

    Back to work for me.

  15. My muse has been absent since I got back, but this morning I made myself sit down and she came out... it's such a good feeling. Just keep going forward...

  16. April was such a rush. Even though all the letters were scheduled, I continued to write and create.

Now I am working on quilts and kids.

  17. I'm an out and proud insecure writer.

Funny how 'how to write' books can help us sometimes. I mean, they're not the end-all answer. There's no definitive way to write a book, a screenplay, a short story, etc, but sometimes they have just the right nugget of wisdom to get you back on the correct path.

What happened to the ELP post? Why'dya delete it? Damn it!

You only owned one of their albums. Well, which one? I know, don't tell me: 'Brain Salad Surgery'.

Everybody who only owned one ELP album owned 'Brain Salad Surgery'.

Back in the day, I owned two ELP albums: 'Brain Salad Surgery' (of course) and 'Works'. Had to have 'Works' because I loved the song ‘C’est La Vie’.

And even though it is 180-degrees removed from ‘C’est La Vie’, I must admit that I do still like ‘Benny The Bouncer’; I’ve always loved the way the singer sings the word “eye”.

Bring back your ELP post, Hippie Girl! I wanna see what came after the first few sentences.
