APRIL A to Z CHALLENGE
‘WHAT ARE WORDS?’
A is for ATTITUDE {favorable or unfavorable evaluation of something}
There is a lot of talk about ‘free will’ or our right to choose. Everyone talks about it, every one strives for it, and many have died for it. In the end we don’t have a lot of choices.
We don’t get to choose who falls in love with us, who stays in love with us, or if anyone will love and cherishes us. We don’t get to choose if a drunk or reckless driver will be on the road heading in our direction, careening out of control and smashing into us. We don’t get to choose whether or not a loved one dies. We don’t get to choose if our bodies fail us to a dread disease.
BUT, we do get to choose the ATTITUDE with which we will deal with any adversity that comes our way. At the end of the day this might be our only choice. Our ATTITUDE is in fact everything. It’s wise to pick a good one.

Nice reminder for the start of my day. :)
ReplyDeleteGood points - Faraway - and even though we don't get to choose everything, we can try to encourage those things to happen sometimes.
ReplyDeleteAttitude- it can be good or bad. But you need a little of it to have confidence.
I'm already a follower, it must be because of your attitude.
That's lovely, Barb!

ReplyDeleteAh, you’re doing the ‘A To Z’ thang, eh? Well, that’ll keep you busy.
I tried it the first year and found it too much like “a job without pay” and quit after completing “O” which was for “Over And Out!” It seemed like every spare minute I had was spent on the computer, writing blog bits, responding to comments, and visiting and commenting on other people’s blog bits. It finally felt too much like a chore to me (plus, I don’t wanna be forced to write something when it’s not genuinely inspired).
Good luck with this, I hope you have fun.
As far as “attitudes” go . . .
Mine usually begins pretty crappy, but an “attitude adjustment” is always available to me: I generally start with a gin and tonic and see where “the spirits” lead me from there.
Of course, we can always choose to “laugh” too. And that’s where I come in here:
I never want to laugh at another person’s misfortune and pain, but sometimes... it’s just TOO DAMN FUNNY, and I laugh in spite of myself. Like the other day when my friend the Flyin’ Aardvark sent me this link to The Ultimate Treadmill Fails Compilation and I found myself laughing out loud hysterically. (Ahh, the Aard, she knows how to lighten my mood and change my ‘tude!)
Have fun with ‘A To Z’. (I’ll be checking in on your posts.)

ReplyDeleteExcellent start! :)
Very true. Control what you have the power to control.
ReplyDeletewelcome to me
yummy stuff
Had to do a quick double-take. Thought the post was about ALTITUDE. Yikes. Need some coffee.
ReplyDeleteIn high school, our gym teacher said our class needed an "attitude adjustment." It consisted of running the track the entire hour for a week. I think it worked.
What an awesome start! I have a great attitude toward the A to Z Challenge. :)
ReplyDeleteVery well said. You can't always choose your circumstances but it's always your choice how you deal with it :)

Very well said!!
ReplyDeleteVery good post. This is a great topic to expand on...
ReplyDeleteA good attitude is a wonderful thing.
ReplyDeleteExcellent word. Attitude is everything. I firmly believe that it's now what happens to us that defines us, it's how we react to it.
ReplyDeleteYou've got a great attitude. Does it help living in paradise? My attitude has changes now that I'm living where I've always wanted to live and with my guy.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you that we do get to choose how we deal with everything that faces us.
ReplyDeleteI guess you just try to control what you can...
ReplyDeletePerfect, really needed the kick right now. Adjusting my own attitude.
ReplyDeleteWell said. I've always liked your attitude.
ReplyDeletePS To save you time, don't bother to visit. I've opted out of the challenge but am cheering you on.

I like the idea of having attitude/confidence. Just not a bad or rude attitude!
ReplyDeleteyeah, i agree with you with religion: to each their own... here in the philippines, it's taken pretty seriously... the entire country just shut down for five days for holy week.... restaurants, malls, even macdonald's! imagine the US shutting down for an entire week.....
