P

“WHAT ARE WORDS?’

I’ve had most of my posts written for awhile now. It’s a good thing because when I started to get sick this past week, it was all I could do to press the right buttons and get them up here. I’m feeling better, kinda, so I decided to change my P post.

Today P is for PRAYER {an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with deity or an object of worship through deliberate communication} for me PRAYER is direct communication with God.

When I told a friend that I was really sick, he told me he would PRAY for me. You cannot imagine how that made me feel. I cannot imagine anyone doing something greater.

Something else you might want to know about me. I believe whole heartedly in PRAYER. I have no doubt that our PRAYERS are heard and answered. The answer is not always the one we want, but ultimately it’s what is right.

Once again I’m not trying to convert you to anything, just stating my position. BUT, I would challenge you to try something, if you ever have the opportunity. If you’re lucky enough to witness someone PRAY in a language other than your own, let go of your head and open your heart. I’m talking about an close up and personal experience with PRAYER here (not something coming over the TV or anything like that).Personally, I relish the opportunity, because when I can’t understand the words and I open my heart the Spirit takes over completely and I feel wrapped in the arms of that particular communication with God. It is an absolutely awesome experience.

  4. Oh what a wonderful post and YES, the power of prayer is magnificent. I don't know where I'd be without it...I am a very spiritual person and this is just part of me. I feel like I have on-going talks with God day in and day out...love it!

  5. I think the idea of listening to prayer in another language is lovely - it becomes more about the feeling than the words.

    Feel better soon!

I don't know what "P-Word" you originally had scheduled but I'm glad you switched this post to "Prayer".

Oh, gosh, I could write an entire book about this subject - and I don't mean a small book, either!

Well, as you know, my spiritual life encompasses a number of things that are generally regarded as unusual or unorthodox, but I firmly believe I have arrived at my present beliefs with assistance from God's Holy Spirit and from God's Holy Son, Yeshua (a.k.a. Jesus).

My views about prayer itself are also not commonly held, but I don't want to hijack this blog bit by going into any detail. I'll just say I think there is a form of prayer in which we seek God's direct involvement in a situation; there's a Prayer of Gratitude; and then there's an even higher form of prayer in which we seek merely to wordlessly commune with and experience God, not hoping for anything but an awareness of His presence. This third form of prayer is sometimes referred to as "Meditation".

Interestingly, I have found that sometimes successful Meditation even transforms itself into something different: the aforementioned Prayer of Gratitude.

In the final analysis, I am convinced that there is one thing and only one thing that we God-created souls are capable of GIVING to our Creator-Father, and that is our Gratitude.

Anyway, GREAT word choice for the letter P. You done excellent, Nitro!

  7. Listening to prayer in another language - what a wonderful thought!
I believe in prayer. I've seen it work miracles for my family, my parents, and many of my friends. It's also the moment when we are closest to God and really listening to Him.

  12. Visiting from A/Z. I am so sorry you are sick; but I do believe in the power of prayer. And I agree with you; each and everyone of our prayers get answered, maybe just not the way we want them answered, but God always knows best with what we need. I've had incredible prayers answered in amazing ways :)

    hope you feel better soon!
